R.B.I. Baseball Villains

Not considered diamonds in the rough, these are just rough around the edges...& then some.  These guys are good at being really bad, and do so in some amazing anti-clutch ways.  This is the group of players you love to hate!

Wille McGee-St. Louis Cardinals

That's Jack Clark, & he's not hugging Wille McGee

This is the face of a man who doesn't come through for his team...ever

If a purgatory exists in R.B.I. Baseball, you can bet Jack Clark is there forever stranded in a torturous limbo on 1st base....thanks to Willie freaking McGee.
A wise R.B.I. player knows that Clark is the only lethal bat in the Cardinals line-up, & as a result Jack gets walked 3 or 4 times a game.  No player in RBI comes to the plate with a runner on more often than McGee.  McGee has made a career out of not taking advantage of his situation.  He is the biggest R.B.I. villain of em all.

Sorry Jack, but there's only one miserable option available

Bob Brenly-San Francisco Giants

When Black Sabbath released the album "sabotage" they were probably referring to Bob Brenly ultimately ruining the bottom half of the Giants order.  What could have been a deadly combo of left handed hitters with Will Clark & Chili Davis is nothing more than a turd sandwich with Brenly acting as the feces in the middle.  Brenly gives the pitcher a chance to coast between Clark & Davis which really hampers the effectiveness of the order.

Sorry Chili & Will...

this guy kept you from being a dynamic duo

Davey Johnson-New York manager

...unfortunately those long balls are usually solo shots thanks to Davey

As a kid, I remember Davey Johnson having virtually the most talented team in the National League year after year.  Thanks to a miracle, he managed to win 1 stinking title.  More importantly in my current world he's buried Darryl Strawberry in the Mets order batting 5th in R.B.I.  Not 4th, but freaking 5th.
That's just far enough down that its rare he ever bats when the speedsters Lenny Dykstra & Mookie Wilson are on base.  With Carter batting 4th, Darryl has no protection behind him.  To make matters worse, the R.B.I. gods have a bad habit of seeing to it that Strawberry leads off an inning with no one on base.

Harold Baines, George Brett,
& Bill Schroeder
-American League's 6-8 hitters

With Mark McGwire, George Bell, and Jose Canseco populating 3 of the first 4 spots in the order, this team seems impossible to keep off the scoreboard...and then this trio of turds sneak into the American League's punch bowl.
The opposing pitcher gets to coast through these 3 easy outs, then mows down the pitcher.  It's a nice break in the line-up before the bombers come back up to the plate.
The A.L. has a weak batch of bench hitters, so your basically stuck with these guys.
A.L. should be one of the elite teams in the game, instead they hover near the middle of the pack thanks to the turd trio.

uh...you guys were actually serious about me hitting for power?
Picture
I'm just the catcher, but I can lay down a mean bunt

Glen Davis -Houston Astros

Glen Davis is the worst clean up hitter in R.B.I. Baseball.  The epitome of suck!   Davis would be the worst clean up hitter in minor league baseball.  His mere average 857 power rating puts him below 7 batters in the Boston RedSox order.  SEVEN!

Its no wonder the Astros are dead last in our team ranking.  Did Glen sleep with a programmers wife in order to get such a low power rating?  Punch their baby?  Kill their dog?  Might as well call him Geena Davis, and have him bat clean up for The Peaches...and remind him there's no crying in baseball!

Picture
C'mon, I'm not that bad......
Picture
actually the Tigers 8 hitter has a lot more power, & a better mustache

Donnie Moore & Eric King
California Angels & Detroit Tigers

We'll leave the tragedy that ended Moore's life out of the discussion here, & just focus on the lack luster R.B.I. careers of these 2 "anti-closers".  With just another decent arm in the pen, the Tigers & Angels would easily be in the discussion as the elite teams.  Instead a couple really bad pitchers messes up that pipe dream.  These guys are what we call the "last man standing" pitchers....meaning you don't want to use them at all and do so only out of sheer necessity.  If the game is tied late or goes into extra innings these 2 become a horrible detriment to you chances of winning the damn game.

Picture
Moore looks sad, because he knows he's keeping the Halos from greatness
Picture
Who in the hell decided one day that it might be a good idea to get an Eric King autograph?
